Front of air filter housing has a rectangular plastic thingy moulded on I t and below it on the rocker cover (guessing) is a metal pin roller looking thingy. As the air filter housing is loose I think whatever connects these two points is missing. ??

"Thingy" is a affectionate generic term for all things on my Fiat!

When you change filters on a sporting and are replacing the filter cover/ ducting the dangle bit locates over a sticky out bit to reduce vibration ...

Sorry ....seicento sporting MSC 2001

I have the same car and the thingy in question is a small plastic latch which clips into the airfilter housing from which a spring is connected to the rocker cover. The idea of which is to reduce vibration but a nasty side effect is it causes the small plastic bearing surfaces under the airfilter housing that contact the rocker cover to grind themselves into the aluminium...the right hand side of mine is almost worn through. To prevent this I have bonded spring steel plates to the top of the rocker cover!
