Ok, so my 1.2 Bravo needs a new exhaust. Its rusted to bits!

I've been thinking of getting a new performance exhaust system. Something like this:

http://www.evolutionr.co.uk/index.php?product_id=81535&option=Prod_detail&image_id=298834

I was thinking of doing the job and putting it on myself, but have never done this before. How hard is it? It says it fits to the standard system at the cat.

Will i need to weld anything or do anything overly complicated?
Or will it just be a couple of nuts and bolts job?

Anything to look out for? How to mount it etc.

Any help would be largely appreciated! The more advice the better really. A guide with pictures would be awsome, if available.

that will just be a basic nuts and bolt job. its made for ur car and its a cat back system.

i could be wrong, but by the looks of it...its simple as can get :)

Nice one.

Could this be done by laying under the car or jacking it up?

Or would i need ramps and stuff?

I would not buy a sportex system if it was me, the quality of them is not great, they are not stainless and the service you get from the company is pretty poor in my experience.

Better off going for a supersprint or powerflow if you have the funds.

Oh.

Well ive been looking round and i havent found many places to actually get a system for my car.

Do you know anywhere i can buy one of the exhausts you recomended for a 1.2 bravo?

u wont get much for that price. like alex said if u have the funds. but id get one of them...

What sort of price am i looking at for one of the other suggested exhaust systems?

From powerflow single 4" system without cat and guarantee i paid £359.99.

If you have the money then go for it as it will last you but if you havent then like shaun said go for the sportex.

And that was only last month so the price would probably be similar now.

Woah! Pretty expensive!

Yea think i will just go with this sportex system to be honest. I mean, i gues anythign would be better than this rusted exhuast.

The sportex will rust as well eventually as it is not a stainless system. But if your happy with the sportex then go for it :)

Ok.

Any more advice on fitting? Or hidden/tricky things to look out for? Will i need any extra brackets or anything for hanging?

Would it be best to buy some car ramps to raise the car?

Exhaust

If your in the north near peterlee then get them to fit it as its only £25.00. If you are definately doing it yourself then make sure you use plenty of gasket sealer or similar around the join and Ive heard that you need to get the handbrake cable out of the way as well, as it hangs right in the way.

I live in York.

Where abouts is this place that will do it for £25?

TIPS:

undo ur handbrake cable, as it runs under the exhaust
get some one to help...it can be very heavy
and be careful not to hurt urself :)

Sportex systems aren't the best but you get what you pay for.
They are based near me and i needed some aftersales service and i found them to be very good and they have an 18month warenty.

If i where to buy an exhaust now i would go to a company who have a good reputation for building stainless steel systems (not powerflow though). Sure its going to cost more at about £300-£350 for a cat back system but it will last. My sportex system is about 12months old and is showing signs of wear. As its only made of coated mild steel it will rust just like your last system did.
