Has anyone here fitted bucket seat to their Punto that use this type of subframe:

COR0035.jpg

This is the type of subframe I need to fit my new seat, however its designed for a car with a flat floor pan.

Punto's don't have a flat floor pan, there is a ridge that runs across the car, the standard subframe bolts on to this.

Now my thinking is that I bolt my seat to its subframe and in turn, bolt that to the current standard subframe as the standard subframe will give a level surface to mount the seat on to.

How does that sound? My only concern is that the seat will be too high. Anyone else done this and done it differently?

Hey punto boy. Do you remember I had this problem a while back? Well the standard subframe bolts are welded so this means its almost impossible to remove the frame from the seat! So this means you cant use the standard subframes or the frames in your pic. So you will have to source subframes which fit your seat as well as fitting the mk1 punto which is a bugger!!! Hope your luck is in! (y)

Thats totally wrong I'm affraid mate.

The standard subframe unbolts from the bottom of the seat, its the runners that are rivetted to the seat, these need to be drilled out to remove them. I know this from when I fitted RST and STi seats to my car previously.

I basically need to create a flat, level surface to attach the above pictured side mounts too. Which should be possible using the standard subframes and using 3-5mm metal bars to bridge the gap. Much in the same way as when I fitted my previous seats. I'm just concerned that the seat will be sitting to high doing it this way. I want to possition the new seat as low as possible.

Here are some pics of the new seat... Ideally I want it to sit this low.

Only one problem with the new seat, I'm a bit fat for it. I can fit in it but its a little too snug.

Oh well ;)

Its a second hand seat, so I couldn't choose a size. Its perfect really. Not too tight and not loose.

As for the paint, yes I'm fully aware of the colour difference. When my car was painted 4 years ago, I had no intentions of showing the inside off as much as I am now so couldn't justify the extra £800 the body shop wanted to spray the shuts and reveals.

When I reshell my car in the new year I will indeed be getting it all colour coded.

Good to know (y)

Why you reshelling? going fully stitch-seam welded? :) or you having dread rust problems?

looks mint (y) it looks like uve put the frames onto the OE subframe? looking good, what i have found thou is that the passenger side subfames sit higher than the drivers so if u ever did put another in it'd sit slighly higher, that was in a sx anyway.

Yeah I know mate. Had the same thing with my previous RST Recaro's and Subaru STi seats. Need a LHD drivers subframe to sort it out.

Yeh my passenger side seat is a bit higher, its abit annoying, was thinking of fitting some washers or something under my drivers seat to raise it to the same level.:)
