Does anyone know how to fit an ipod cable kit in the 500?? Apparently you have to remove the document box and drill a hole in it but i cant get the document box out and the instructions that came with the cable kit are not very helpful at all!
I called Chappelhouse where i bought my car from and they have advise that its going to take 1.5hours at least for them to fit it, at a price of £108, and i cant say im over the moon at that!! You would think that when you buy a new car these days that there would automatically be a usb port or something!!
Can someone PLEASE advise me?????
:D

Do you not have a usb port in the centre consul??, if so you just need the normal usb cable, that comes with the i pod, and I had to buy a £60 gadget as mine would not connect/play, - I think they call it the joy of having Apple verus Windows connectivity :)

I don't think you get the USB port and aux in connector if you get a car without blue & me.
I'm sure someone who's "in the know" will be along shortly to tell you how it's done though!(y)

I thought the cable was put in at the back of the Stereo unit. There is a guide on here on how to remove it. A 'piece' of the button on either side is 'lifted' off - IIRC at 8'oclock on the left and 4'oclock on the right. Got the impression that you might lose the capability to play CDs once it's installed.
The hole in the 'glovebox area' is where the connection for the ipod comes out.
That price quoted sounds very high. I would have thought it would take around 15 minutes for a 'professional'.
As FloJo pointed out there's no USB or AUX 'built-in' on 500s unless B&Me is installed.

Since last year you don't need dongle thing for apple on B&M, also you can get over the issue by converting song formats, I posted that fix last may I think.

What I don't like is the inability to select songs via B&M, so tend to use aux which is unfortunately amplified. Ho hum.

Unfortunately I not able to do this in the new motor with the 'new' Tom Tom B&Me Live 2 with Fiat CS still not playing ball with me (haven't given up yet). But looking at the clip below it would appear that it would do what you are looking for. Note that the OP hasn't got B&Me so this 'Sat Nav' will ONLY work in a 500 with B&Me and the 68R option port installed (after a certain date).
