hello.
I have recently bought an inverter that i intend to install in the rear of my van (2005 swb ducato) on one of the shelves ive made, it has supplied me with two crocodile clips that are about two foot long, i want to connect it directly to the wiring and fix a surface mounted box with a socket on to plug chargers into etc, and wanted to know how to do it, can anyone help?

How big is the inverter? And how big are those chargers?
Just to get you started, lets say it is 300 W. That means at maximum load it will draw about 28 A. NONE of the wiring in the Ducato can cope with that kind of current for more than a few seconds.

I'm a locksmith so I have machines and computors in the van, also I'm 24hour so I need lighting.
I have a 1KW inverter running off a marine battery, all sat in the back.
Wire runs from the alt and the main battery thru a relay to the battery it the back. All this is fussed at both ends.

Do it properly, I've heard a lot of stories about fires in the back of the vans from other locksmiths.
