Pretty sure the 1.6 exhaust and engine mounts will be different to the 2.0 so I don't think that will fit.

Yes you would have to use 2.0 prop shafts as there is so much more power and torque available. This means you would also need 2.0 hubs. The extra weight will mean you need 2.0 front shocks and springs. The extra power/weight means you will need larger brakes.

Best thing to do is find a 2.0 16v with a dead engine. Swap the engine (doing all the consumables (cambelt, waterpump, etc) and there you have a ready to drive 2.0 16v.

This method will save you on insurance and save you money. Plus you could sell your 1.6 at the end of it to get back some of the money.

Amazing! Got all the parts to go from a 1.6DGT to a 2.0 16v from their Fiat dealer! I can't imagine the bill!

Beautiful example of a '89 5 door though. Lucky are those who live in Tipo friendly climates.

Didn't realise that the Mk2 shells didn't have the engine mounts to take the 2.0 top mount. That would be something to consider Jay.

The other thing to think about is that the NZ option was a much more comprehensive swop over of bits than just engine from A to B. Still think the answer is buy a Sedici and spend a bit of money on making it a great car, there arn't enough of them left as it is.

Nice job - and how convenient that it still wears the DGT's number plates! Wonder what LTNZ have to say about the engine swap?!

What they dont know wont hurt them. Its unlikley anyone other than a Fiat enthusiast would pick the conversion from an original one. The registration details can be changed to indicate the engine has.

sedici's are durt cheap, I would never consider changing the engines on a lower model to make it a sedici, when you could get the whole car.

Mines only got 60k to go before it gets to the same mileage - plus mines had more owners :p
 Yes but I'm still worried and put off by the amount of times it has been for sale... is it secretly broken? and that mileage.... tis very very high in my opionion, I've always said I'd never buy a car above 70K just for peace of mind.
