Thought I'd start a fresh thread for this as I have some pics of my fiddling. My jobs today were:

1. fit the ipod adaptor,
2. get DVD playback with the purchase of a proper loom.

To start with I took apart the centre console on the dash so I could get a good look about in there. I was going to run the ipod cable into the glovebox but the screws were really awkward to get to so I decided to run the cable to the cubby hole below the astray - perfect size and there's an access hole for the lighter wiring, so no modification required.

From the pic it looks like I need a facia, but the one I have doesn't fit right with this HU, will need to get a Dremel :)

FAO Darren. The ipod interface is an absolute joke, I hate it already

hehe i told you you would hate it :D you think the likes of JVC would at least be able to make the left go left and the right well go right :D but no

I've got a few gripes with the interface actually:

1. pressing up moves you through the menu and down is enter, why not let "enter" be enter ffs. And moving up through a filetree from the start is against anything I know.

2. if I press enter at any stage - which is easy to do - I go right back to the beginning.

3. you have to hold the navigation button down to move faster through the library but it takes a fooking age...the HU really need a wheel on it like the newer Alpine units.

Using it while driving is pretty much impossible - I'm not even gonna try it's so long-winded. Just means I have to be prepared before I drive anywhere :(
