Hi all
My name is Richard and i live in Tiptree Essex
I have a technical question regarding my fiat stilo dynamic 1.6..2004 .. 5 door
Subject heater fan..
I have just purchased the car and the heater fan is not working.
It has the controle panel with climate contole and push button up and down for the fan
I have checked all fuse,s and all ok.
I have discoverd the relay for the heater circuit T8 has burn damage..
I have replace the relay
I have taken out the heater fan motor
I have checked volts on the supply cable to the heater.( 4 wire plug )
colours of plug wires REd and Black 4mm blue and green 0.5mm
I have tested for voltage from these wires
RED to earth no volts
black to earth no volts
green to earth no volts
blue to earth...1volts to 4.8 volts when turning up the heater controle push button for the fan
I have checked fan motor via stand alone battery connecting to red and black pins of motor and motor does not run
continuity between red and black terminals of the motor fan is 1.6 K ohms so something is wrong..
i asume motor runs at arround 2 amps so would be exspecting ohms reading of around 6-8 ohms ..not sure rating of motor
I have checked for volts with fan switched on at controle pannel then at fuse board terminans where relay clips in ( red and black ) terminals and i am getiing a low volts reading of between 1v and 1.6v
and as there is not enough volts running the relay contacts there is no reading of volts on the red and blue turminals which energise the coil at the fuse board where relay plugs in..
I know something has caused the relay to burn out but i am concerned this has caused damage to some other components in the heating circuit when the motor failed so want to make sure before i purchase new motor fan...
can anyone advise me please as these heater circuits are quite complex not sure what else is in this circuit that prevent volts at the plug to the motor fan...
or will it only supply power to the heater fan when its got a load on ..hence new motor fan pluged in
awaiting your replies
