fiat stilo 1.9 jtd

i i have a fiat stilo 1.9jtd.when i turn the ignition key on im getting a yellow triangle comeing up on the dashboard saying brake lamp failure,ive cleaned all the contacts and changed all the bulbs but the light still comes on.has anyone ever come across this problem before and is there a fix for this thanks andy

The system needs exactly the right bulbs or you can get problems.

i replaced the bulbs withe same bulbs that was in there.but they were cheap bulbs i think i only paid about £3.50 for the full set do you think this could be the cuase of the problem thanks andy

Hi,
they need to be the same wattage or else the can system will see the wrong current drop and as such you will get the fault you are describing.
I always use lucas or hella bulbs, been caught out before with cheapies from a tesco's filling station etc .
