hi there ... in the detailed diagarams for "How To Replace Stock Springs Front + Back - The FIAT Forum#content_ im having massive trouble in removing nut
2a the shock is of the car and the springs are compressed ....... anyone have any ideas .. is there a special way or tool required ... :bang: please iv tried 19m spanner plus allen key in the hole at top of the strut
attachment.php

iv left penertrating fluid on over night ... im using allen quay and spanner together S.O.B. wont budge ...

Have you tried putting shock in a vice, then hold the spanner and gve the allen key a nice tap with a hammer. Personally if i couldnt budge it with that id give up and give a garage £5 to undo it for me.

Edit: Can you get to the top of the strut in a stilo while its bolted to the car. Ususally easier than a vice.

OK gave in and took the whooooosss,s way out As you said took to a garage and they removed it with a hammer gun on a air line ..... Took all of 38 sec....When it came of it looks as if the threads are slightly frayed so ill try and replace nut ... thats the one on the strut not the one typing ....

Sorry but only just seen this post.

It is aways best to "crack" the top nut with the dampers still in the car. Once the spring and strut are moved there will be just too much slack/movement in any method you use to retain the unit from rotation.

An air or electric impact driver gun will undo these nuts when the unit is removed (as you have found out) because of their rapid application of torque.
