Fiat recorded a trading profit of €3.2 billion in 2007. http://www.italiaspeed.com/

Since the 500 sales have only just started to take effect I feel this reflects the overall strength of the current Fiat range.

BIG chunk from GP sales and also from sales of the Bravo (y)

That's nearly as much as that french trader lost the bank earlier this week..... :chin:

[Le cough] Bonjour Madames et Monsieurs. Je desire un petit loan pour ma famille et le taxman.

Votre donations et tres agreeable. Envoyer a La Bastille, Paris.

Merci buckets,
Monsieur banker.

Did they quote the turnover as well? 3.2b is a fair chunk of money on its own but if its from a turnover of ......say 200b..... its not that impressive.

The figure of 3.2b euros is for the whole of the Fiat group, automobiles on their own turned 1.1b euros which is about £815m and will be pre-tax. As a comparison Ford turned £997m over the same period so they have not done bad but it would be interesting to know what the turnover was.
The new-model honeymoon is over for Fiat now and the hard work begins, they have to keep shifting cars in the popular markets to keep the figures up. Fiat have not raised their profit forecast for 2008 and Investors believe they are on the crest of a wave and that profits have peaked.
