FIAT " four lamps" Thornaby

Has anyone who commented on the other thread about FAST in stockton tried the FIAT independant at the Four Lamps garage in Thornaby.

I need a service and brake disks looking at so was looking for an opinion from anyone who might of been there!

hello...it is simple...do not go there...i use to have a white fiat punto 1.2 and this guy put a new timing belt on and the normal oil change plugs etc..then one week later ""bang""""""""bang""""""""i thought it was the timing belt and i felt a bit hot with fear...pulled over as i was on stockton bridge at the time and this gut had left a mini rachet and a long ten mm socket in the car engine compartment....no damage to anything so i put it with my tools...and when i went home i had a good look round the engine bay..and then i found a red handled screwdriver...and it was stamped with the same make as the rachet"pickavant"..so in the tool box it went and the screwdriver was between the top of the engine and the air filter....so i have never used him again.i did ring him and had a few words..he asked for his things back...so i asked for my cash back....a standoff....so do not use this guy and he puts **** oil in had to be drained out and new filter....the 5 lamps garage it was called then..but you say it is called the 4 lamps..so it must be the same garrage at the botton of westbury st in the old part of thornaby-on tees it has a parking on the front....hope it helped..

a pickavant rat**** and screwdriver is worth more than an oil filter and bit of oil, so it was a good deal

well no wonder my mate was interested in them...he has them now...mmm he forgot to mention they were decent tools....but this bloke who runs this place is not who you want messing with your motor...but you do not know untill you pay your cash... :bang:

Brother-in-law can't speak highly enough about 5-lamps (it is still called that) and reckons they are the muts nuts.

Interested to hear what candymut2000 says though. why do you think there was something wrong with the oil?

well i have used the 5 lamps once and that was enough for me but to be fair the timing belt must have been done ok as it never snaped but to leave 2 tools in the engin/bay is wrong and it may have been caught by the engine and flung iself through my bonnet and will this guy help??...dont think so and the oil was the wrong oil it was far to thick(viscos) as it had to be changed as my car was like a bag of hammers on a morning due to the thick oil not being sprayed on to the cam so it had to be drained and a new thiner oil(semi synthetic) was put in and a new oil filter...so i say as i find and if the work was up to scrach i will have used five lamps again but it was not...i will not pound garages for no reason as he is trying to make a living but i will when they leave tools in the engine bay l .....hope i do not find him at north tees hospital as a surgen..lol. mind you saying that wentain fiat in stockton haver crap aftersales service but they do not leave any tools still in the engine if they do i will let you know.

Honestly do NOT go to this garage!!! i have had a problem with my punto where the engine stalls all the time, took it to this guy and he told me it needs a diagnostic £25 and then extra for what else was wrong with it. So after leaving it with him i went to pick it up, he said yeh theres nothing wrong, your engine is running perfect and ive cleaned a plunger inside the ignition chamber that should sort the problem out. But if it doesnt it will cost you £300 for a new ignition chamber!. Day later driving my car and the problem had not gone. Instead of paying £300 i thought id get a 2nd opinion. Took it to a mechanic in my family and he did a diagnostic, straight away picked up 3 faults, the one causing the stalling was "speed sensor circuit" so not only has this guy in the 5 lamps not even run a diagnostic on my car, he has charged me for it and to clean some stupid plunger,total bill £45. Dunno what his game is, stalling at junctions is potentially lethal and he sleeps at night! what a prat! dunno how he managed to open that business. If your a young bloke like me,not knowing to much about cars STAY WELL CLEAR! but my mam and dad use him also and they have had no problems so he obviously takes the p**ss when he sees an opportunity.Overall this man is a CON ARTIST!
