Fiat Ducato 244 Patform Chassis - 8140.43s engine code

I have a 2004 Swift KOntiki 610 Motorhome based on the Fiat Ducato 15 base. i had a new timing belt kit and water pump fitted 4 years ago and it has only done 3k miles since then . Howoever i am paranoid about timing belts and diesel engines so am going to have them replaced again. However this time the mechaniic says I do not need the water pump changed unless it is leaking. i thought it was allways adviisable to have it changed at the same time. Looking for views/ advice from members more knowledgeable than me lol. Thanks
