Hello

I have a Fiat Ducato van converted into a camper van (Adria), 2.3, multijet2, 130 hp, year 2016. The engine light comes on in my vehicle (code 236,238 and 401), it also switches to the reserve program. I replaced the air flow meter, EGR valve and rear turbo (where the fault was found), but the engine light still comes on. The authorized service center did not find anything (at my last visit they told me if I let them know how I fixed the fault??!). The car acts as if it has no power (as if it is being choked), but I later found out that the exhaust pipe is very sooty, even though I drove 4000 km about 3 weeks ago, much of it on motorways. At first it seemed to me that the light came on under load, if I go over 3000 rpm, but now it comes on for no specific reason (at low rpm).

what solution?

The thread suggested is required read with your problem but it is rather long. This guide and the second that it points to are a much easier read

Once you've read this your next action has to be to get Multiecuscan on a Windows laptop in order to save live data. There are two Templates that are important to diagnose the issues you have One(template 5) is used specificaly to identify if its a Blocked LPEGR cooler and what is known as Twin egr cooler syndrome and the second (template 7) for more general issues. has the vehicle got a comfortmatic or manual gearbox? @Fredastaire

There is one important question that needs answering is it a twin egr model? if early 16 could be euro 5 or 5+. if Euro 6 or says multijet 2 on wing its a twin egr

it is euro 6, with 2 egr

Here is some reading for you
Thanks, I've already read all of this but haven't found a solution.

If youve got Multiecuscan or a scan tool that can do live measurements and save to a csv file, ie use the template i posted, and the post results here and I will attempt to diagnose the problem. If Its one problem that Fiat finds difficult to diagnose then with the appropriate data i will be able to tell you conclusively. In order to get decent data, start from cold then take a run to normaly to get to temperature if you get a P0401 then screen shot the freeze frame delete DTC and run for 10-20 mins @60mph if possible, save results and post here.
I am getting close to 50 engines Ive diagnosed with these codes. @Fredastaire

@MilanP welcome to the club. It's me who started the main 90 plus pages post on here.
You have already identified a sooty exhaust. If you use Multiecuscan with program template from @theoneandonly you can go for a drive and watch the LP EGR working.if it's changing opening from full closed to full open with little intermediate control plus a low temperature then it clarifies your LP cooler is soot blocked. You will need a new DPF, new cooler (or acid clean yours) plus you need Fiat software v28 or 32.
Expensive yes.
There are many of us caught by the defective DPF from Fiat, sorry for the bad news

Hello, I have already made an appointment to replace the DPF. We'll see what happens. Maybe I made a mistake by looking for a Ducato and avoiding a Jumper or Boxer

@MilanP unfortunately i don't think just a dpf will do as the LPEGR cooler will also be blocked. It is also becoming common to replace the inlet manifold as well there will be a lot of soot in the system which can be instrumental in a repeat problem. Take advice from Fiat and get a warrentee for the replacement parts

@MilanP you have not made a mistake in buying Ducato if you are comparing with Relay / Boxer.
.
(If we ignore the part cost) You only have a one component failure of a bought out component being the DPF. (Yes there is follow on soot blocking the cooler and inlet manifold) . If you were to study forums dealing with Boxer / Relay models they have a staggering volume of engine failures.
.
There are many Ducato 2.3 (iveco engined) vans with 300,000 miles and more on the original engine. A good quantity are twin EGR variants. @theoneandonly

I totaly agree with statement. Yes the twin egr variant has an expensive peculiar failure mode that is relatively small in comparisson to number sold. P&C adblu failures are at a frankly rediculous leval.

Can you please explain more about this?
Just do a "google" search for Boxer adblu and the first page are numerous companies offering adblu delete as a solution to the "well known" problems Peugeot forum thread quotes "hi everyone im starting to see on other sites that many ad blu users are getting similar problems" . They are a common occurance on motorhome forums. compare the number of videos on peugeot citroen dpf adblu repairs to Fiat or even Landrover (O'Rileys Autos as an example), all very anecdotal. It would be interesting if such items were reported by JD Powers Satisfaction Surveys or reliable Motoring Magazine articles, but reliable information is not easy to find or even verify like is MG the least reliable EV on sale in UK but most popular (in its catagory).
