Can anyone please help!!!!
Upon starting my van one day there was an awful noise coming from the engine, which I found out was to do with the timing chain. It still drove ok until one day it would not start the AA bum started it so I took it to get the timing chain replaced. 4 days after I got the chain replaced the van would not start and I remembered the garage saying they had problems with the starting motor, so I got that replaced.
I few days later the same problem has appeared the van will not start.
Could anyone advise me on this as I'm useless at mechanical Indians mechanical engines
Many thanks

A video with sound may help as you crank the engine on the starter.
Assuming the timing chain job was done correctly, then when you picked the van up you turned the key and it started quickly and ran quietly.
When the van later would not start was it turning over normally , but not starting?
After the new starter motor was fitted did the engine then turn over quickly and the engine start quietly?
Now when you try the ignition key does the engine turn over but not start or not try to turn over/
There can be many reasons for engine not starting so if you can answer the above questions it may help guide advice.:)

Thank you for getting back to me, the first time it would not start before I got the timing chain done is the same as all the times it would not start I'd turn the key and there's no turn over, no clicking, nothing after the chain was done it started and ran as normal for 4 days then nothing it wouldn't start and it repeated itself after a new starting motor
I'm sorry if I'm not explaining this better but I'm crap the cars.

So when you turn the key the starter doesn't try to turn, do you here a click or nothing at all?
A faulty ignition switch can cause that, assuming your happy that a good quality new starter was fitted, but also bad electrical connection, lead/terminals/earth, etc.
Did you tell the garage to fit the new starter or did they tell you it was what was needed, if so I would go back to them and say the car is still the same after they fitted the starter motor if that made no difference to the starting issue.
I assume no error codes or lights coming up on the dashboard?
So after the timing chain job was done the engine ran well and quietly until it wouldn't start.

When I turn the key before and now you can just about hear the slightest clicking noise and l mean bearly, the starting motor is new that's down to me because I thought it was that but obviously not
No error codes but the heater plug lights keeps flashing
The engine ran great both after the chain and new starter then nothing
I'm close to doing a John cleese on it 😆😂😭

So that sounds more like an electrical issue, ideally a good diagnostic readout from a scanner. Many on Forum use MES scan tool, do you know any one locally with similar?
I assume not an immobilser light, did you say you had a spare key? If not try just putting key in ignition and turning it on but not starting for a few minutes just in case it has trouble recognising it since you did all that battery disconnecting and wire earthing/grounding tricks.:(
If it wasn't fore the flashing lights I would say a faulty ignition switch, I assume this has only started flashing since the none starting?

Thanks very much for all you're advice I do believe it is a small fix it's just finding the fault I'll get it towed to the garage and hopefully they can sort it
Many many thanks

Yes I agree too, all I meant was if you had access to a diagnostic scanner it may help go straight to the fault, hopefully without a garage bill.:)
