Technical fiat coupe reversing problem!

Hi there i have recently got a fiat coupe turbo 20v and although it hadnt been driven for nearly a year i drove it lastnight and although finding the gears wasnt ideal, when i came to start it this morning it wouldnt go into reverse and the gearbox just felt very lose. i spoke to a garage and the fella didnt know much about it but says the 'bush' has come lose.

I openly admit to not knowing anything about the mechanics of the vehicle. If anyone has had these problems or knows how to solve it please let me know

if you mean the gearstick felt loose (sloppy) then it sounds as though the linkage has come off. have a look at the point where it joins the gearbox.

Have you had it in reverses before? Do you know you have to lift the collar?

there is a plastic cup that the gear leaver sits in, this is getting to the age now were its starting to shatter and fail. A few people over on ffck have been though replacements. You should get your self over there as there is a bit more of a active support forum
