Hey guys can someone tell me what fiat are doing abt the coffee maker, I can't find any news on how to get one

In the UK it's in the brochure and options list but not yet on the configurator and not available to order AFAIK, at least it wasn't on pre-orders because the brochure/price list wasn't issued then? The brochure I got even lists a different comfort pack as the coffee machine isn't compatible with the drivers armrest (goes in the cup holder behind hand brake). Not sure if you can buy it later on as that cup holder might need a power supply / terminals in it that you might not have unless ordered with the car? Better to stretch your legs at services anyway :)

I have a 12v kettle in Myrtle (I am an occaisional chauffeur) and it is essentially useless. It takes 12 mins to bring 1 cup of water to a drinkable temperature, and about fiteen minutes+ to bring it to the boil.. I have never had enough time to bring the full kettle of water to the boil!

I'd be interested to see how the coffee maker works, just for a giggle.

I am thinking of replacing Myrtle with a 500L at the end of the summer because of the excellent rear leg room.

The 12v travel mugs seem like a gimmick as well, normal non 12v travel mug will keep a drink hot for 90minutes anyway :)

For £200 you could buy eg many McDonalds coffees which are OK these days and around £1.

Trouble with coffee machine is 1) £200, 2) you can't spec both the drivers armrest and coffee machine, 3) no way of knowing if its any good (they'd need to have them in the showroom so you can try it and its coffee).

The fiat lavazza machine uses pods a bit like a tassimo AFAIK.

And if you are a total retard, remember to start the car before using it as before the kettle boils it will flatten the car battery.... Take one guess how i know that   :bang: Ahhhh

its based on the 'Hanpresso Auto' Handpresso Auto ESE Portable Espresso Maker for The Car: Amazon.co.uk: Kitchen & Home

you can buy one now for about £140

Remember its an expresso maker so tiny little shots of coffee (30mls) not a decent cup like you'd get else where.

It is but fiat version has lavazza pod "a modo mio" technology which makes a huge difference
Is £140 but add cups, sugar, coffee pods etc etc is not £140 anymore:p
Espresso is a decent coffee (is not 30ml) unlike some watered down cup of coffee thst you can buy else where, and is more than just a coffee is part of culture and italian lifestyle and that is were this particular option is aimed for;)
Is not a coffee maker is an espresso maker and lets not forget that fiat is from italy;)

Is £140 but add cups, sugar, coffee pods etc etc is not £140 anymore:p i believe £200 just gets you the coffee maker you still have to pay extra for the option in the car so that it can dock to power it also the cups and bits may cost extra
Espresso is a decent coffee (is not 30ml) unlike some watered down cup of coffee thst you can buy else where, no espresso is 30ml if you do some research you'll see that the actual cups (inside one of the larger cups along with consumables) are only little tiny clear plastic things quindi espresso 30ml

and is more than just a coffee is part of culture and italian lifestyle and that is were this particular option is aimed for;)
Is not a coffee maker is an espresso maker and lets not forget that fiat is from italy;) coffee is a big part of social culture in Italy sitting in your car quaffing a tiny cup of international brand generic coffee on your own isn't exactly 'italian culture' would be much better for your average long distance lorry driver here in the UK

Lets be honest in the uk an in car coffee machine will be used on a cold sea front with the rain pouring down and wind blowing
not zipping through the olive groves of Italy in the bright sunshine,
It's a unique selling point for any car but like any coffee machine received for christmas, by new years you're sick of cleaning the bloody thing

again if you read my answer properly, is an optional aimed to the italian market or to people who apreciate what an espresso is
have a look at this and you may get the idea (ps only one i could find in english) that some people like the freedom of having a nice espresso in a car(y)http://youtu.be/kU2WpcVoKxE

It is but fiat version has lavazza pod "a modo mio" technology which makes a huge difference How So?the way that the capsule is built is optimized for a real espresso with crema style coffe and lavazza spends milions on research on how to do this like illy
