Hello

I need to replace the cat/dpf in the exhaust system, the one in the exhaust system after the flexible pipe. Not because the cat/dpf has failed but due to corrosion on the 3 bolt flange where it joins the flexi. Very annoying on a 29000 mile 4 year old car!!

Has any one fitted a Ragazzon de cat pipe?? Much cheaper option than replacing the cat/dpf but don't want lights coming up on dash or to cause any other engine problems

Any help appreciated.

I've been considering it myself, probably opting for the version with the sport cat. To avoid the DPF light though you'll need someone to reprogram the ECU to disable its functions. Or for some vehicles there are devices you can get to plug into to fool the ECU into thinking its got DPF and that the DPF isnt clogged (So it doesnt try and clear)

The two items above are for the 95bhp 1.3 mjet2. If its a DPF'd 75 you'll need another part.

Alternatively Gus at AlfaTune in St Helens (if your in the north west) can source the part and carry out the ecu modification for a reasonable total price.

I'm wanting to replace the Dpf/cat thats in the exhaust system under the car not the one in the downpipe. Don't think doing this will involve any lights coming on or need to re program. Was hoping someone on the forum may have already done it and could confirm?

I was under the impression that the box you are referring to right after the flexible pipe was simply another silencer box and not a cat. I thought the only cat on a multijet was the one shown in the image above, on the downpipe, close the manifold but maybe I am wrong?

You will I am afraid. There are two pressure sensors that between them determine the percentage of blockage and the ECU will need to be re-programmed if they are disconnected. The catalytic converter is a separate item to the DPF.

I imagine you are correct as for the DPF to regenerate it needs to have the gasses passing through as hot as possible, so the closer to the cylinder head the better.

Thanks for your reply grimwau. There are two sensors in the flexible pipe thats goes between the Dpf in the down pipe and the cat. This pipe will be retained ( so sensors still fitted and connected) and just the Cat after these sensors removed. So should not need to be re-programmed or cause any other issues?? Your thoughts??
