SPL X MF1000 AMP 4X250 WATTS OR 2X500 WATTS
I've had splx stuff before and it was awful! I did advise to stay well clear of this!

MEGAVOX GX-940 6X9 500 WATTS MAX
Absolutely no idea, never heard of them. a lot depends on the RMS rather than the max

2X 12" SUBS 450 WATTS MAX
Never seen these either. And again, a lot depends on the RMS rather than the max

4 CHANNEL AMP WIRING KIT 600 WATTS PEAK POEWR
Not good enough for a 1000watt amp

2X 12" SUB BOXS
Boxes are boxes

Sorry if this aint what you wanted to hear buddy.
My SPLX amp was awful. The sound was poor, not very powerful (you wont find ANY documentation for the RMS) and it cut out due to overheating after 20 mins then cut out every 3 mins after that. Yours is a slightly different SPLX amp from what I had but I have necver heard any good news about them yet.

Sorry mate

ah well. we live and learn..

Re: Re: FAO Wimmy

I spent;

£250 on a 4X75 BBG Amp (Peak Power 1000W)
£30 on Pro-Audio 200W (Peak Power 800W) 6X9's
£130 on a 300W (Peak Power 1000W) 15" Sub
£200 on Apline Head Unit.
-------

With a sound system you pay for quality.

Ask a few people who went to the Manchester 'Big' Meet how loud it sounds :)

You should steer well clear from SPLX as it's just total garbage and has BS RMS figures and overheats.

Ian.

Re: Re: Re: Re: FAO Wimmy

i did not want to spend that much money on the system. so i think £ for £ i am happy.

thanks wimmy for the help mate.

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: FAO Wimmy

I Dont think you done too bad there, i havent heard of the amp before.

Someone i know has a pair of those 6x9's, im sure that they are rated about 65-75w rms and they sounded very good.

You may be a bit dissapointed with the subs at 450 max, probably around 60w rms, but it depends on what your personal tastes are and what type of music you listen too.

As said before, boxes are boxes. Just make sure that they are the right size for you subs (i expect you need .75 or 1.0cft. I would just run some extra silicone sealant around the inside of the box on the joins, to ensure a good seal.

The wiring kit should be fine, but i would probably throw away the earth cable supplied and buy some heavy duty stuff, you want one with big strands. Second thoughts i have some spare, i'll pop some down to you when we meet.

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: FAO Wimmy

I agree with wimmy. if you can dump the splx amp do it! i have one on my sub and it's trash. i get more bass from the 6x9's! Am going to get myself a better amp and use the splx for when i replace the front components i think. I thought you were getting that sony stuff. or is this an old post and it's just me being stupid and not looking at the dates?

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: FAO Wimmy

a mate of mine had a similar amp to yours i think it was the model down, his boot set on fire last month and he has been trying to get splx to pay for the damages, but because he installed it himself they are blameing him, but he is adamant he followed the guidelines perfectly, thing is the amp was extremly hot all the time, i mean so hot you could barley touch it, it would cut out after 15 min and then he had to leave it for 30 min to cool down.

i recently bought a amp from a company called Axton, they are low budget but high quality, you wouldent be disapointed, i just bought a 4 channel amp for a little over £200 and it is very powerfull.

for the money you have speant it is good i think but the amp is very suspect.

i hope all goes well mate and at the end of the day people can call it **** as much as they want, if it sounds good to you and you like it then it was worth every penny :)

ok its going

thats it. all of you can't be wrong, so the Amp is going back.

which one should i get then.

..Also, have you got pre-outs, if so, what voltage output do have from your head-unit.
