Evenin Tom.

I really should get some rest, but whilst it appears you're still up too.. (and I've got toons courtesy of d.i. to keep me going) :)

I've lost count now of just how many different things I've had to consider in spec'in these custom brakes. Cottoned one to yet another (hopefully now the last potential spanner – but a major one!). It's that joint on the bottom (of the 'hub carrier').

At best the tolerance there with that 22 is 9mm; with a 28 8mm, so with my intended 28(325) i could only gain 8mm. I desired 12mm plus the use of 3-4mm spacers. Any suggestions?

Of course the 325 disks will have a larger internal diameter by about 20mm from the 284, but this still only takes the rim to about level with mid point on that joint.

Will have to take a closer look at that coupling/ball joint and gauge if any more tolerance can be gained somehow!? Else then the only other option would be FKs min 10mm centric spacers and say only 6mm on that custom bell depth!

The FK hub-centric spacers wouldn't be more than £30, and I suppose it makes no odds really whether I get the bells made +6mm or +12mm. It's just that I end up back with this issue of axle track, and 20mm wider is still a lot for all the many different reasons.

Could go for a slightly larger bell and decrease the spacer, but would then need to requisition your services to perhaps machine me that centre bore insert we talked about, to take the wheel loading.

Surly nothing else can complicate matters now!!?? Just glad again, realised before putting the order in.

ps. I'm in the same boat. Insurance, MOT etc, all up for re-newal next month. Will be glad to get em out the way for another year. one of my credit cards is doing 12 months interest free if you pay for your car insurance premium with it. Bonus!

Mmmm.. crusty brakes! :)

It looks like you are going to have to put up with a wider track to get those brakes on. no way around it really.

Take the drive flanges off the coupe hubs and send them to me.

What was it again you were asking these for? or was it to do with my request for having those inserts made?

Rather than possibly chop some of the centre off to allow me then to use a spacer with a hub centric bearer of it's own (FK) I might just take you up on that offer to make me two bearer inserts. Is it really feasible Tom to perhaps fit such a device, secured in place with that big nut on the end of the drive shaft? (am guessin the A. will be - send me the flanges so I have time to inspect them, and I'll tell thee!)

Arrse. I forgot. Didn't think it was guna be an issue afterall, til I got down to do the exhaust night before Donny, and noticed there wasn't sufficient clearance.

Really can't decide now what to do. Guess 8mm extra ont bell, and 8mm spacer with devices you could perhaps make me, is about the best really.

And all cos i don't wanna swop my alloys!!
