I am thinking of getting a honda integra, i know you have one.. i am probably gonna get the 1.6 though..

Just wondering, is the 1.6 any good?any idea on insurance? Just wondering if you have any info you could share with me?

Thanks alot

Paul,

They're only made in a 1.8 version, in either black or white coachwork. Mine's black.

Maybe you're getting mixed up with the Civic VTi, whch comes in 1.6 or 1.8 with 3 or 5 doors.

The Integra shares it's engine with the 1.8 Civic VTi, the Civic has 169bhp, the Integra has 180bhp as it's much lighter and nimbler - the 5 door Civic is a Rover 400 clone!

The engine is unblevably strong and will go past 9500rpm, at which it sounds glorious, but worrying. If you'rr seriously thinking of buying one, you can kiss the neck end of £10k goodbye (dealer price - if you can find one) and your insurance will be pricey. I'm paying just under £600 with 12 years NCB for a protected policy.

It's not too bad on gas, but when you start to use the V-tech cam, it will start to guzzle. They look exactly like they are, so get a good alarm fitted and some strong secondary deadlocks.

Honda dealers are expensive, but they treat you well and courteously, unlike Fiat dealers who are shite in just about every department.

One thing to think of, is the red key - just like Fiats, but you only need it to clone duplicates; not for the ECU.

Re: Re: FAO RR

they did a 1.6 integra but in an earlier mk. The early integra looked like an old civic. You need to look for one post 98? for the sporty one, it has 4 round headlights, also comes in red doesn't it RR?

It's a propper stripped down sports car not a confort vehicle. Even the radio was an optional extra. They have less soundproofing to reduce weight and a custom windscreen as well as a stainless system from the factory.

I've not driven one but i have driven a hairdresser style CRX v-tech thingy. Very quick with an engine note that's addictive but wouldn't go until after 5500rpm when the v-tech did it's business, this was great as it was quite economical (got from doncaster to liverpool on about £12 i think) but bad as you won't win a race off the line, even against a vtr!

I believe the integra will be a similar drive.

Re: Re: Re: FAO RR

No they did do a 1.6, in the dc-1 shape, as mentioned the one with the round lights...i like the look of the type R but would never ever be able to get insurance on it, the 1.6 looks nearly identical, its import only i think, you can pick one up for about £3000...

I need a new car, and i am just thinking i want a change, any suggestions, under insurance group 12! Might get a 97-civic coupe, they are insurance group 10!but wont be as quick as a 1.8 bravo...i am finding it hard to find a car as quick as the bravo in a simular insurance group!

Re: Re: Re: FAO RR

I'm sure there must be a honda forum where you can ask about honda's. Anyway the CRX is rapid. But it all depends on what one you get. The SiR import is the one to look for. And I think it would beat a vtr even in reverse.

Re: Re: Re: Re: FAO RR

i'm 99.9% sure they don't do a 1.6 in the shape i'm thinking off. The only options were the 1.8 type r in 3 different colours. I could be wrong!

The proplem with the civic coupes is they look like such a grandad ar unless you mod them in my opinion!

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: FAO RR

Current Type R Integra is 1.8 only and I've never seen a red one. Dealer told me it was either white black or nothing.

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: FAO RR

@Daz..Can not afford a focus+i would rather a 1.8iHLX Bravo again

@Smithers.. will never get insurance on a crx, my friend has one with nos etc, it feels quick when you are in it but when you are racing him it aint that much faster than my old 1.8 bravo

@Alan.. totally agree with the grand dad comment, but i would have to mod it, in my oppinion, it only take a good set of wheels, lowering, and a subtle spoiler (not a mecano one!)

@RR.. They did a 1.6, but import only. its like the one you probably have..4 little headlights?its called the dc-1

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: FAO RR

integra typr R def. available in red, someone has one at work.

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: FAO RR

You can get old shape CRX's in VTEC and Non Vtec versions, the VTEC is pretty quick (quick than my HGT) once you get the VTEC working, but the non-VTEC is quite a bit slower.

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: FAO RR

I though the 1.6 must be an imported version, as I aint seen one.

The older CRX's also have the 1.6 VTi engine, which kicks out 159bhp and they're a quick motor, as are the VTi's.

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: FAO RR

yeah, they are imports!

I dont know what i want? just looking at different alternatives...

I still dont know what insurance group it is, think its a 12, so its a bit high for me!

I can get a nice on but its auto, i hate autos!!!i would have to buy a new box for it asap!

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: FAO RR

I paid top whack for mine from a dealer.

I'd walk awat from an auto import.

No point in an auto with the V-TECH system!
