Hey chap, you emailed a while back but it's my mums account at her house and I've only just heard about it!

The noise wasn't the air-con pump, I changed it and it was still there.

I think it is either a tensioner or maybe the power steering pump as it gets slightly louder (grating noise) when I turn the wheel, as if there is more pressure being put on it.

I haven't had chance or money to look into it though and if it is a tensioner then I might be ringing my garage as I had the camblet changed last november when my clutch went, and should of had all the tensioners done with it.

The noise was there then but the guy in the garage said he couldn't find the problem and thought it was the air-con pump (which is why i changed it)

hope this is the info you wanted, my mums a bit useless at giving me messages :)

Cheers mate, thanks for the reply. The reason i asked was i was getting a ittitating squeel on the start up of the vehicle which lasted 10mins before it eventually disappeared.

I thought it might be the alternator or tensioner or guide pulley. In the end it was due to the auxilary belt slipping. It had the wrong one fitted.

If you want a job doing right, do it yourself.

Thanks.

I see,

sorry it took so long to reply.

Mines more of a grinding noise, I have heard a few other cars making a similar noise, and one was a 2007 mercedes!

It sounds like a tractor (I know its a diesel) but a really old one!

I'm sure I will get to the bottom of it one day, but for now it still works and hasn't caused any problems.

I'm more intrested in getting the handling sorted out.

I have replaced the anti-roll bar rubbers (pain in the arse) after the guy before me decided to put some screws through the rubbers and into the chasis to hold it still! But I have slight play in the tie-rod end and the shocks/springs are squeeky and sometimes the passengers shock sticks in a 'squashed' posistion and then releases itself when it feels like, causing the car to bounce up in the air! :)

Any ideas on a price or where to get shocks/springs for a 2.4jtd?
is it the same as the bravo hgt due to the weight of the engine?

thanks :)

Darren

p.s. if anyone is reading this and has any of the parts mentioned please give us a shout.
I'm also after a rear wiper motor for the marea weekend :)
