guys, i've had my bravo 1.6 hlx T99 since 2004.i've had 4 years of glorious trouble free mototring.it's only done 85k.i've ony done 30k in 4 years.but i'm thinking of changing it for a alfa 147. any suggestions on specs and faults to look out for?i've been looking on auto trader.have they got similar faults to a bravo?

I always think Alfa 147s are ridiculously overpriced.

If you want an Alfa i'd go for a 156 (as long as of course you don't mind a bigger car) as in my opinion they represent far better value for money, have better engine options and more often better spec (more likely to have leather, etc)

Agree with that. Nice as they are, the 147's are often overpriced compared to most other Alfas, never mind the 156/159's.

The cute size/looks are probably to blame
- along with the, (dubious) assumption by most peeps that a smaller car will be cheaper to run than a larger one of the same make, which of course is'nt certain to be true....

156's are where it's at, I want a V6 ... just need shot of the 2.4 first

On the twin sparks listen for a diesel noise on start up from cold, that is the cam variator on its way out. The belt changes are actually 36k so be sure its been done. spark plugs are costly for all 8 so check that they have been replaced, stay away from selespeed if you can as alot fail (actuators esp)

try and get leather interior as they are easier to sell on with leather, and cheack a/c works, not all are simple regas's.

156s are nice but look dated beside a 147 and they are getting quite cheap.

get it into powerfiat (soon to be poweritalia) for a check up and service (i am no longer there so i can do blatent plugs )

other then that its the same as any other car, tyres, brakes etc etc
