Technical Extra oil filler?

Does anyone know why there is an extra oil filler on my Ducato 2.0 jtd? Is it actually for engine oil? Many thanks

I think you will find the hose from it connects to the sump so it can be used for topping up , though it may be a slow job, like the 2.8 Ducato engine that often has an extra filler, they were used in many different vehicles and some like the Iveco Daily 2.8 was rear wheel drive so mounted front to rear not transverse.
Just to be sure with yours, check the hose on the front mounted filler does go to the sump and if you undo the cap with the engine running it may be more obvious.
You could also check the part number on the plastic mounting and see if it is listed as a filler part.

Given that access to the "standard" oil filler seems to be restricted by adjacent pipework, the addition of a more accessible filler point makes good sense.

Also it may be worth noting that the EGR vacuum operated valve is lacking a connection to the EGR vacuum modulating solenoid. See items 5 & 2 in attached eLearn diagram.
