Hi, new to this board just wondering if people could shed any light on my fiat bravo.
It's a 11 plate 1.4 dynamic, lovely little waggon inside and out but when accelerating it's overly noisey ( like a boy racer car type noise ) I took it back to the fiat dealership I bought it from and they said there was no problem it's last service was two weeks ago and the mot was done this week. I thought maybe the previous owner had fitted a noisy thing on it as the windows are slightly tinted.
P.s I know nothing about cars so go easy on me!
Cheers

Can you post some pics of the rear of the car (exhaust) - take a pic from under neath the back if you can.

Someone will be able to tell you if its a different exhaust.

Other than that - more importantly, it could have tiny holes in it and it might be blowing, does it sound very raspy?

It actually sounds ok maybe I'm not used to noisy cars had a focus previously.

I used to have a focus and it was silent - very good on fuel too, not bad for a 1.6, i drove an older Focus ST170 - noisy and too stiff... good car though, handled like it was on rails.

Anyway - your backbox looks like a genuine OEM one so its not an upgraded one.

Only other thing it could be if its louder than normal is a hole somewhere in the system - the top of the backboxes tend get holes in as easy as the bottom side does.

Run your hands round the hole area of the backbox with the engine running and you might feel hot air coming out of any holes - that would be the first thing to check... then check gaskets around flanges etc where the middle connects to the downpipe / cat etc.

ST170 great cars. Much prefer the old and new shape focus to the mk2
Gonna get a garage to look at it tomorrow just to be sure as I am terrible with cars!

I like them all... but it depends on the spec, i nearly bought a lovely a st170 on an 03 plate... but insurance was higher than i could afford... it was fettled with but in the right areas and looked very sleak :( im kicking myself now. The reg was one letter different to my old stilo that was PE03 NTA, it was calling for me at less than a grand but i just didnt go for it, ill say it again, gutted.

Try looking at the aluminium heat shieldsbaffles on the exhaust. These tend to split at the boltheads and it then becomes loose and rasps . There are other aluminium shields , one at the middle and one at the rear of the car , these can sometimes rattle against the exhust itself. They are very flexible and can easily be distorted if driving over long grass or through water. Easily bent back if you can get underneath.
