Hello,

Pity you've posted only a thumbnail of the photo, but it looks to me like it's a bar that should be welded to this part of the exhaust system.

It goes to the rubber orange part, hanger, which at the other end hangs on the part which is screwed to the body.

Check the ePER link on the bottom of the forum banner. It's the FIAT spare parts catalogue. Search window is top left of the screen. Put the VIN of you car, then navigate to the correct category and you'll see all the parts and the part numbers.

If there isn't such a bar welded to the exhaust you've bought, perhaps you've bought the wrong one. If it's the only problem, make it weld to the exhaust tube at the correct place / angle.

Hi, Thanks for this , yes I think you are right, will post a proper picture, and sorry.. very clueless person here.. where woud i find VIN please

I think this is clearer, the round clamp around the exhaust has come apart, I am not sure if I need a clamp and an arm? its so rusty I dont know if it's all in one or two different parts

It can depend on the specific brand of exhaust you buy.

OEM exhausts have most of the pipe clamps integral with the silencer(s) and pipes. Aftermarket exhausts often don't have these, and you just use standard aftermarket exhaust clamps of the correct diameter.

By the time the exhaust is in need of replacement, the clamps have usually rusted away to the point where the precise type can't be identified.

If you're fitting an aftermarket exhaust, just buy whatever clamps you need to make it secure. The really critical one is the one that attaches the bottom of the cat to the gearbox housing.

You will not get such a part separately. This part of the exhaust system is welded by the manufacturer onto the exhaust components. But a metalworking specialist (welder or locksmith) can manufacture such a part for you very cheaply. But I think it is not worth it because I see that this exhaust system will have to be replaced soon. And this part will be on the new exhaust.

In Fiat EPER I can identify what system you need to make sure it is compatible with your car. If you choose correctly, everything will be there where it is needed.

Au contraire - Link to an example part here >>>
It'll still need delicately welding on by a specialist, but they can definitely be got ;)

Whether I'd want to weld it onto such a deteriorated exhaust is another question 😝

Yes, that's good! This is a mountable version, but I've also seen a weldable one here. Although I don't think it's worth it, because this exhaust system needs to be replaced before the technical inspection, if such a thick part has rusted like this, then the thin-walled pipe is definitely in bad condition, especially near the welds and bends. 11€ for the part, around 70€ for the exhaust system.

The VIN should be in the registration documents (V5C), on the aluminium identification plate under the bonnet (sometimes it's just a sticker), it should also be stamped on the side of the engine bay. Could be it's also in a small 'window' on the bottom of the windshield. Depending on the model. Check the owners' handbook. It shall give a precice information.

It's under the carpet in the boot, above the rear nearside (left hand as you're at the back of the car) tyre.

Thank you Zapa, I was not sure this part would be part of a new exhaust system

Thankyou, I have managed to get a new clamp on it, it's holding it for now and exhaust not rattling or moving so loosley, has given me a little breathing space as getting a whole new exhaust kit is the final answer , just could not find the brackets, only clamps
