Has anybody come across this, temp gauge has a mind of it's own, normally at about 80, all of a sudden down to 0 up and down several times then settles at 80. once it went to 130 and all the bells and whistles went off then returned to normal temp. all contacts seem OK, any ideas?

Might also want to check the water pump, it could be about to fail. This is a known issue on JTD engined Cromas. It has a nasty habbit of taking the timing belt with it...
What happens is the water gets heated/cooled in one place (near where the temp sensor is) and then it's pumped around. If you're trying to cool your car cabin temp down and it isn't working too well and then your temp sensor says the water temp is dropping then this might be the cause.
