Well, I have trial fitted the Eonon X3U single DIN head unit into my son’s car. Luckily, my “that’ll come in handy one day” stash of bits included the removal things that fitted the Blaupunkt unit perfectly and an aerial adapter. The swap took 3 minutes, and about as long for my old brain to connect CarPlay.
It fits flush with the fascia, being Linux based boots up very quickly and turns off when the ignition is turned off, unlike the OEM Blaupunkt. Bluetooth audio is good. The radio is crap though.
The Rock setting on the EQ gives the standard speakers a bit more oomph.
The stash of bits has a pair of 6” Pioneer 2-way speakers and a pair each of 6” and 4” Alpine speakers, so I imagine there will be a change there at some point.
The original radio took longer to put back in. This will be saved until he has passed his test.
Worth the sub-£60 price paid (included a rear view camera and remote mic for phone use).
