Just hit up ebay. Buy a 1.1 / 1.2 8v (55 or 60, not 75!) or a Cinquecento/seicento spi 1.1 (same as 55) engine, borrow a mate and go collect. There are loads on there.

ETA : Will a 1.2 (60) engine not need the exhaust manifold from the 60 aswell? Is it not the same situation with doing the Cinq engine swap with the 55 manifold being too short to fit the 60 engine?

If not, go for it! 5 extra HP, 30% more torque. Insurance might be an issue though.

i'll try and remember to call kelvedon autos tomorrow, they may have forgot to look in the back of the vans where they keep engines

ive rang um up they have one in, £100. no manifold with it but i might have a free one in by shed if its needed. guaranteed so if it dont work you can take it back.

they are open till 3pm today, guy you need to speak to is kirk, say its the engine dave rang about

Maybe. But as the labour and hastle is the main part of the job, and clutches are cheap, replace it anyway.
