I have a 1.9 do look 55 plate and the cam belt let go and destroyed the engine I’ve managed to get another from a Punto 2006/2011 my engine code is 223A7000 and the Punto is 199A5000 are they interchangeable? What is the difference

Are you sure your engine is stuffed. Some of the Fiat 1.9 engines have sacrificial cam follower arms that just break protecting the valves, guides and pistons.

That's weird, I've had two fiats that had cam belt snapped and the engine was still perfect after replacing belts.
