Hi,
I have joined this forum as I am trying to help my neighbour who has a 2004 petrol Ulysse.
Basically the fault is as follows.
The car will not start unless you keep your foot on the gas. When it does start up the pedal is non responsive but the engine revs high then drops then high then drops in a pattern. It will do this as long as you keep your foot on the gas. when you remove your foot from the as the engine dies. there is also quite a bit of white smoke too.
I'm not a mechanic and they have had friends look at the car who have suggested a faulty coil, so they have already purchased a new coil which obviously did not resolve the problem and they are now stuck.
My initial thoughts are the Lampda sensor but I don't want to tell them to buy one and be wrong.
Has anyone got any ideas please?
Thank you so much
Paul.
