I have just received a Fiat Tempra 1.6S (K Reg) but when idle in traffic or when the engine gets hot (94C + roughly) smoke starts coming from the engine. I have plenty of water, oil etc so I am unsure of where/what it could be. I can post a picture of where I believe it is coming from in the engine if that is any help. It is a white smoke, and there is always a smell with it, bit hard to describe.

Any help greatly appreciated.

if its white smoke, you have a slight water leak.you need to pinpoint where its coming from a.s.a.p.

As Sumplug says it would be useful for an indication of the area the smoke is coming from.

Is it smoke or steam?, smoke persists, steam will dissappear.
Back of the engine ? (exhaust area) or front ? (radiator area).

I had a K reg 1.6Ie that generate white smoke, it was a pinprick hole in the the power steering hose. There is a hose with a silver crinkle heatproof tube that runs down past the exhaust to the steering rack. It had a hole in it and only sprayed fluid when using the power steering almost at lock, and when the exhaust was hot enough to burn it off. Replacing the tube fixed it, I got the wife to turn the steering so I could check, it sprayed steering fluid all down the back onto the exhaust.
