Hi all.

My wife has a Diesel 1.3 Grande Punto (08) the timing belt has broke with spectacular consequences which mean we need to look for a replacement engine.

I've been looking through breakers websites and I've got a few quotes for 40k mile engines at about £900. My issue is, when reviewing the providers of the engine, the customer reviews are always utterly terrible.

Does anyone have any engine providers that they haven't had a bad experience with?

Many, many thanks

Mikey.

What is your engine code? - and this was just from a quick ebay you might have seen it already but buyer has 100% if thats what your worried about. Im assuming if your an 08 plate this should be fine but you'd need to verify it definitely is, let me know what happens/if you need any help and it goes without saying, when you get the engine fitted get new belts inc cambelt and waterpump fitted at the same time and you also might aswell get a new clutch fitted to save the labour cost in the future but obviously depends on your budget.

All the best!

Thanks Gents (y)

I've seen that one on there, I'll take that link to my mechanic tomorrow to make sure that it's everything we need.

The only thing that worries my wife on the eBay thing is that there's no warranty but theres very little you can do about that.

Thanks again.

Yeah just be cautious when buying, there is always trading standards to fall back on if you had a major problem remember. And as for that engine its got 33k on the clock which is pretty good, none of the other bits like gearbox etc but obviously your wife's punto will have those left so no need for extra expense. Let us know how it goes!
