Technical engine problem

Hi

just wondering if anyone can help me?
i own a fiat tipo 2.0 16v turbo
i have recently started to have low oil pressure and a knocking noise
under load when revving high.

when cold the oil pressure is good 4.5 bar on idle. when at 70degrees on idle
the oil pressure drops to 2bar

when the engine is at the normal running temp (90)degrees on idle the pressure drops to 1.5bar

when revving the engine from 3000rpm to 6500rpm the oil pressure does not go over 2.5 bar

the best way to describe the noise to you is when you build the revs in the same gear to around 3500rpm - 4000rpm and then accelerate you will hear the rattle.

I also have a problem with turbo it does not over boost. When in a high gear and you accelerate hard it doesn't exceed 10psi - a friend of mine said this isn't normal and that it should over boost.

the oil i'm running at the moment is Selenia racing 10/60

you would probably be better off posting this in the coupe section. i'm assuming it's the engine from a coupe used for the conversion?

Take the sump off, drop out the main bearing one at a time - and see what they look like. But the sounds of it its probably the bottom end. If you dont check the crank will be ruined and you'll need it all out to re-build. The turbo is the least of your problems, worry about the main engine first.

Thanks Rich. started her up today and she was mis firing, running rich and wanting to stall i think she needs some TLC!!

he would offer potential advice, but if you have a knocking sound you must check the bottom end, look on his site at Steve_nz/speirso's posts his bottom end has gone balls up too. Dont worry about the running, I would 1 do a compression test all plugs out wide open throttle - unplug the fuel pump otherwise its going to get smelly. Then take the sump off and look at the mains. Really you cant guess these things, doing both of those things will tell a lot, otherwise its pie in the sky as to whats wrong, rest assured it wont go away by luck.
