Has anyone looked a fitting a HGT Punto Abarth engine in an X19. It seems to me that this could be a good modern performance option, especially if the fit was relatively easy. After all those Uno Turbo motors are getting harder to find. Cheers PeteR, new member from NZ

The Punto Mk1 Sporting uses the same SOHC Lampredi motor
So should be as easy a swap as an Uno Turbo motor

Bravo/Brava 1.6 16v motor is also based on the original SOHC Lampredi block, [but updated to a twin cam 16v head and fuel injection]
So has the right mounting points and should fit the X1/9 gearbox bell housing

Both the above would require a lot of work on the electrics/ECU wiring
But no more so than the Uno turbo transplant I would guess

There is a downside to both of those motors

They represent the attempt by Fiat to make that old engine green-friendly. Neither of them were built for performance and you'll find that while they do produce adequate torque the top end performance is limited when compared to the frenzied activity of the older SOHC engines.

As an engine swap when the original motor is getting hard to find and the UT motor even harder then it is obviously a valid choice that minimises the engine bay modifications.

The HGT motor on the other hand is very nice but requires more mods - the tuning potential is massive by comparison.
