Engine oil query...

Fiat Seicento Abarth engine oil.

Question...

If a car's been standing for a while, (possibly 4 or so months), possibly not long before being laid up, it had had a service...so had had its fluids changed, (oil, coolant, etc)...

Should the oil have a wiff of petrol to it??

PS. Don't know mileage yet.. (don't have keys).

Distinct whiff of petrol is rare unless the engine has been running overcool or has pretty dramatic bore wear. Check thermostat, then -- when you've got it going -- dry and wet compression test.
