Hi - New to the forum - but wondered if anyone knows where I can decode the engine I have in the garage? It is I believe from a classic Panda 4x4 it has a number stamped on it which is 0997538 - any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Spot on - many thanks for that. So that would be a 965cc engine?

Thank again for your help

156A3.000 is 999cc FIRE engine as fitted to mk2's.

Any photo? 965cc would be the OHV from panda 4x4 mk1

Hi sorry for the delay in responding I will double check the number and take a photo -but thanks again for your help

Hi You are absolutely correct - it is a Mk2 fire engine. It has been left outside for a long time which is really annoying as there is no wear on the bores at all but No.4 cylinder rust I am sure it will need a re bore. Do you know where the best place is to get + pistons? Thanks Pete

I have got a set of four OE bare pistons, will double check part number to confirm fitment and let you know.

ps. It might be cheaper to buy low milage second hand engine, unless you want to do it regardless costs - I will say (y).
