Hi all, ive got the old style Ulysse, 52 reg jtd 2.0. The car has been working fine until i drove 800 miles in a week on the motorways. 3 days ago there appeared a tapping noise from the engine along with a chuffing noise, kind of like an exhaust blowing. I had no choice to drive it and the noise got worse. When ticking over the car was chugging as if i was driving a tractor but take the engine over 2000 revs and all was fine. Today I started it and a lot of smoke came out of the back but that disappeared quite quickly. Drove about 10 miles don the road and the engine cut out leaving the warning light on. I managed to drive it home but it continually kept cutting out and driving really lumpy. Can anyone offer any advice as what it could be and if it is worth getting it repaired please, thank you in advance. Rich

The chuffing noise is probably a leaking injector seal. You may be able to cure the problem by tightening the two Allen key bolts either side of the leaking injector (7mm Allen key needed). Leaking injectors are usually accompanied by a smell of burning 'kerosene'. The leaking injector will probably have some discolouration around its base caused by the leaking gas/fuel.
