Engine Light Flashing

On the way to work this morning i noticed that at the beggining of my journey the engine light (Orange one) was flashing.

I went home - checked over under my bonnet and had a listen, then went to work. It didnt flash again!

Seemed to be running ok except being a little hessitant at low revs on the throttle.

Any ideas?

no1 ??

Just i was sorta worried about doin dammage?

ANy ideas of things to look out for to help diagnose this?

Oh come on Tom, surely the orange engine light means the same thing no matter what model... ;)

More than likely its just a bit of damp in a connector, mine does it a couple of times over winter, but certain engines have their quirks. :)

Tom, Its a 1.2 sx on a y plate - 50000 miles and due for a service!

Although the light has not come back on over the last few days the thing has been very very hessitant when pulling away.

deff dont want to do that mate!

If i reset my ecu then all the memory is lost! If then when i take it in to service i get them to run a diagnostic on it to see why the light was flashing it's gunna come up with squat!

I don't think you lose diag info with a reset, you actually need the fiat diag tool to get rid of any warnings

I only suggested a reset, because if it fixes the problem, you will get your power back, and the light will stay off...

If it doesn't fix it, the light will come back...?

Oh No

Ok update!

Although i still havent managed to get a diagnostic done i almost had an accident on the way to work this morning because of the fualt with the car!

I was pulling away at a roundabout in a less than large amount of space, the engine held back, my new ss exhaust made a racket like a tractor (i believe it may have been missfiring on either 1 or 2 cylenders) then the thing kicked in and off i went.

Strange thing was i had let the car warm up while driving very slowly!

I almost had the car coming round the roundabout drive into my side and i genuinly thought it was going to stall in the midle of the junction!

Im worried it may be serious - i mean for a warm engine to missfire like that it can only be cant it?

Re: Oh No

When was it last serviced? Could require a new set of plugs, new filters etc. Do this before tinkering with 'quick fix' ECU resets.

Re: Oh No

I got it booked in for a service in a week, after it comes out of the body shop again since the skirt smoothing cracked and the mirrors cmae out purple the first time!

Get em to run a diagnostic and im having a full check over, under body clean and tune up included in the price!
