Dear Members!

I am having fiat uno 1370cc model 95 and I did
engine head reconditioning in a garage, but I think they didn't do the work good... after the work the said to me to come back after 500Km to make strong the engine head. I came back and they only made strong the external engine head block screws without stronging the internal engine block. I also hear a ticking sound when the engine runs and I suspected it is one of the valve and they confirmed to me that it is ! and also said that it is not a problem that should justify openning the engine again ! they explained that it could stay like that for 5 years and more.. My problem with that first it is the annoying noise (same like my grandmother sewing machine!) and the second thing is that I paid a lot of money and I think I should get a good job! Could you please tell me, What do you think about my case? Do I need to go back to them or first take an advise from a car specialist about this work and if he finds it as a fault then go back to them and ask for my money back?! Any advises from you will really help me to solve my problem.. Thank you very much for your kind attention !!
Best Regards and wonderful day !!

I have that ticking noise too. :)
No major problems as of yet and it has ticked for over a year - thus, I conclude that nothing will ever go wrong. ;)

Ucof,

Thank you very much for your reply. Now I think I will sleep much better (y) . I hope it will last another 3-5 years.. I like my little Uno and even if I will change the car to a new one.. I think I will give it to someone from my close family or even save it as a collecting (hobby) Car.. . :)

Thanks again and regards,
Eli

UCOF is right, I think you will find others will say it should not cause a problem.

I have an 84 1301cc that has been 'ticking' for 70,000km and it is fine. I tried to reset the valve clearances to make it go away but I did not have the right shims. It is annoying and the people who did the job should have got it right for you. But they might not have had the right shims either.

And yes they are great little cars, yours is a Mk 2 model, (a little bit different from) mine are Mk 1 models.

Magneto Marelli are a brand name, like Esso, McDonalds or EZ-Lax. They make many different products, rather than just one.

We are going to need some more info to help you out here.

You said it is by the battery in the engine bay?
Is there a chance you can provide pictures?

I'd be tempted to get in contact with the seller of these: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Job-Lot-Of-ECU%27s-25+_W0QQitemZ120489094351QQcmdZViewItemQQimsxq20091115?IMSfp=TL091115151002r16587

to ask if they can put you in touch with the winning bidder.

Your ECU is listed as one of the ones that was in the box, though if it works or not is another issue.

The worst he can say is "no" I suppose.

Also, try looking on http://shop4parts.co.uk/

Someone on here might have a spare.

Thanks a lot for your prompt reply.. I will look for it..

Thanks and regards,
ELI
