Hello, I have joined the forum in the hope I can help my mate sort out his Ducato. We go away in our vans together and are due to go to the alps again this summer, however, he has been told by the garage that his 2014, 2.3 engine is completely knackered. They have quoted for a brand new engine and fitting at £3000. I don't know all the details but he had an earlier problem with the timing belt/chain slipping one tooth. This had required a £750 repair two months ago.

Has anyone else experienced a similar problem and does anyone know where we can source a reliable yet cheaper reconditioned engine. Any advice would be gratefully received.

Thank you in advance for taking the time to look at this for me.

Cheers,

Russ

It's horrible to read your experience, and others like it. No easy answer. I would get a 2nd opinion but costly and embarrassing to move an engine dead van. Sounds like the garage messed up, your word against theirs. Always stay calm, always try to be reasonable, see what happens if you say fix it at their time and cost.
