I've owned a 1988 uno 70 for six months and i've never driven an uno. The original 1300 is blown and parts for a 1300 are like gold in Jamaica. I now have parts from 3 1300 engines. with no luck.:bang: i am now installing a 1 litre fron a '91 uno just so i can drive it for christmas. Will still be trying to get the 1300 going Is this wise !!

Unlucky mate!

See whats the cost is to get an engine shipped over, there are some loose turbo units going about in the UK! lol

Shipping to jamaica may be a bit high. i wanted the 1300 as a balance between fuel economy and performance. The rise in fuel costs over the last year or two have seen more people resurect unos that were once forsaken.

I got my 70 from my broher who could no longer stand the parts hastle. I'm a bit worried about how a 1 litre will fell as my last two rides were a nissan ad wagon with a GA16 engine upgrade and a mitsubishi lancer With a two litre turbo upgrade. None of which were fuel efficient

Hpoe to have the 1 litre up and running in a week will keep you posted as to how it feels

The 999 is almost up and running but i've hit a little snag. There is dripping coolant so i'll be replacing the water pump in the meantime ill be converting the exhaust so it comes to the front of the engine and i'll be modifying one engine mount. the gear shift has already been replaced and i also need to fashion a mounting bracket to mount the 1300cc alternator on the 999

Before you replace the water pump just check the big pipe that goes across the back of the engine and into the pump is sealing properly. If its leaking from there you just need to replace the o-ring. Maybe even just a radiator stop leak stuff will do. When the o-ring gets a bit old it can be brittle, then a slight bump will ruin the seal.

I actually fixed this problem by removing the pipe and putting it back in with windscreen sealant.

My uno is now up and running, drove it for the first time on the last day of january. It actually runs much better than i expected. and the 999 engine is ok accelerator pedal is a bit too highfor my comfort though, has anyone ever lowered this?
