Hey guys.
I have a 2007 Grande punto T-jet120 hp that has lost compression on a cylinder :(
I want to hear if there are any of you who know about the 1.4 t-jet mito engine is the same as the one in a grande punto 1.4 t-jet 120 hp.
And it's possible to install the Mito engine only on punto motor control?
thanks in advance :)

How did that happened ??

Alfa, Fiat Lancia, Opel, Vauxhall, even Mitsubishi share the same engines and gearboxes from a comon bank (FPT). So beside subtle difference, I'd assume the Mito engine is the same as the GP. Regarding the ECU, the Fiat use a Motronic (Bosch) system while the Alfa use the same OR a Magneti Marelli, with probably different sensors that you could cannibalize from the broken engine...

Haven't you considered rebuilding it ?

;;;;How did that happened ??

Thanks for the answer Bernie
It happened on the highway at 110. Suddenly it sounded strange and pulled badly.
The engine lamp shone and wrote "check engine"
Just got the top of the pill today, and found that one of the valves has been burnt.
On the same occasion, it was seen that the turbo, as well as the exhaust manifold had a crack.
The engine has used some oil the the distant 40-50000 km before this happened (about 1l per 1500km)
So now I'm in search of a used engine with the turbo on.
Do you have any suggestions for places I can find a motor for reasonable money?

;;;;;Haven't you considered rebuilding it ?

I think it is not recommended, considering it's use of oil !

The t-jet 120 and 150 have different codes (stamped into the block)....so it will be a different engine... and would be considered a engine change... would need registration, paperwork, tests...etc

Rebuilding an engine means:
- taking everything apart
- cleaning
- changing all the ware items: seals, gaskets, bearings, rings...etc
- machining all the parts to be in spec.
So should be like a brand new engine, should not use oil (mind you.. normal oil consumption is up to 0.4 liters/1000km).

For your particular case.. i'd just rebuild the head... and only consider the bottom end if it doesn't look right when taking the head off.
Your oil consumption could have been from the turbo, from the valve stem seals, from the oil cooler...etc.
There is also a chance of it being from the cylinder rings.

Gen a new CHRA~150 euro, new turbo exhaust manifold ~70 euro, new exhaust manifold.
The burnt valve ... leads me to think something else wasn't right... maybe with the fuel supply.... or maybe the crack in the exhaust.. leading to over fueling.

Rebuild the upper engine part was my meaning; as it's already off, half of the job is done, get yourself a head gasket kit which include all the seals you need and replace the deffect valve. Hopefully its seat wasn't dammaged ... Need to "break-in" the othe valves too...
There are "spring rings" (well at least there were in the past...) that can improve your oïl consumption in certain limit, the brand was Goëtz if I remenber well ...

It ended with a motor shift.
Talked to the workshop where they could renovate the head, he saw the valves and the slag that sat on them and said that it was due to the high oil consumption from the piston that caused the defect (n)
His advice was to fix the piston / cylinder before he would consider renovating the top, otherwise his opinion was that it could happen again within the next 50000 km at best or at worst 3 weeks.
found an engine with exhaust manifold and turbo that had not driven so many kilometers at a reasonable price (y)
so it ends with an expensive repair, but then I have a nice car again :D
Best regards.
