While parked at a motorway service station on the weekend I noticed a pool of water underneath the vehicle after it had been parked for about 10 minutes and so I had a look underneath and noticed water dripping from an element which is quite long but twists backwards and forwards much like an electric kettle element under the vehicle on the passenger side, anyone know what this rather long element is, I am presuming it is something to do with the heating as I have never noticed this before nor had the dripping water as this is the first time I have used the heating since I bought the vehicle.

The water by the way was clear and not antifreeze.

It may be condensation from the air conditioning unit. Not familiar as to what it looks like underneath the car. Mine does this usually in hot weather when the air conditioning has been used.

The element type thing that you describe under the car is part of the fuel system.

I think it cools the fuel before returning it to the tank. (Not sure, but would seem the most obvious use)

So anything dripping off it would either be fuel, or condensation.

If you are sure it is just water then, I wouldn't worry about it too much, but if it is fuel, with yours being a petrol, I would be very concerned.

Well I have been monitoring the drip and nothing until a couple of days ago and I so the drip, now found the source which is not the element but a small plastic cut out under the floor which I presume is to drain away condensation or rain water, the bonnet was wet as it was a dewy morning and so problem solved :)
