Technical Elect. Sunroof jammed open.

Hi all,
I have a '99 2.0el and have now got a jammed open sunroof. When trying to close it only moves 3-4 inches then back to the fully open position. All runners look clean.
Any ideas?

I had and have still got a similar problem on a '96 2.0 EL, I did read somewhere in this forum that there is a laser sensitive switch which stops the roof if there is an obstruction, As I recall it also said that shining a laser beam on the sensor will activate the roof and may close it. I still haven't tried this as my roof has been taped up for best part of a year to close off the last 1/2" or so which won't close. The thing to use I guess would be a laser pointer or laser distance meter.

keep using it, its generally good practice to use items like this (and electric windows / air-con) once a week to prevent seizure etc
