Hey All.

After a few weeks of searching, talking to people on here, I finally got my new Yellow HLX!! :)

I still have my old Bravo 1.4SX, which I will be putting up for sale on here and on eBay.

I am also sending off my £5 membership for Boo, so heads up Wimmy :)

I am off down town tomorrow to sort out an inducation kit, and swap the current 17inch TSW Razors of my 1.4 over to my new HLX.

I will put some before and after pictures on here, as she will be having a few mods done to her over the next week.

Why am I calling her she? Well, I always name my cars, girl names ... and in true Gone in 60 Seconds style I have called my new HLX, Eleanor :)

Lets just hope she doesnt get trashed like the one in the film!!

Anyways, tomorrow I am going to debadge and fit the alloys and the induction kit ...

As I am new to certain aspects of modding, I will probably bugging the hell out of people on here for help!! So sorry in advance!

Before I go, got a couple of questions .... mainly todo with the induction kit ... does anyone have any pics of there induction kit setups ... and cold air feeds etc .. so I can get an idea for the best positioning on mine!

Cheers

Re: Broom Brigade

Hey, yeah gives me an idea where to start, I am just concerned with the cold air feed bit ... I dont wanna have to do to much taking a part .. especially if I have to remove the bumper ... is there no way of using the existing feed ?

Re: Broom Brigade

Can I swap my rear ashtray with yours, if it closes all the way? please?

Cam, the car Newbie.

Re: Broom Brigade

I might consider it if your WD40 idea works ;)

I need to get rid of those horrible left over marks!!

And Im guessing you mean the one of my 1.4?

Re: Broom Brigade

Yeah, sorry, lol, from your 1.4.

Cam, the car Newbie.

Re: Broom Brigade

I will have a look later, see if it works, I think it does, but as I dont smoke didnt pay much attention to it!

Re: Broom Brigade

Yer, you can do what most do and simply instll the new cone filter. After removing the feed pipe in the process of fitting the new filter, the big plastic bit that channels the air for the stock filter will still then direct the air feed toward the new filter (no need for a new feed - but it would help performance to put one in)

Re: Broom Brigade

No problemo!

Oh, and here is a picture of my Bravo before modding .... and will post others as I progress!

Re: Broom Brigade

Is nothing going right this morning lol !!

Apologies for anyone experience the massive post as a result of my stupidly large picture! /me slaps head again

And Nico, cheers for the advice about the induction kit .... I wont loose performance tho if I just use the original feed ?

Re: Broom Brigade

I will resize the image and upload it again ...

Re: Broom Brigade

I duno actually. It can get pretty warm under that bonnet and your engine prefers cool air. Some would argue that the standard system is enlcosed just as are the expensive kits, so installing a cone filter without will mean that cold supply will first mix with the warm air beneath the hood before going in your engine!

Some buy em for the noise alone they generate, and because I didn't want noise - I opted for the enclosed aftermarket system anyway.

Re: Broom Brigade

Well if I am being truthul I am after noise, and hopefully a little bit better throttle response ... so inline with that, I wanna fit a kit that will do just that ...

Re: Broom Brigade

(didn't quite finish my sentance off there)
some would argue..(the standard system of course is enclosed - before Tom whips his big stcik out) ..that the stock system IS no doubt more efficient than an aftermarket cone induction (not enclosed).

Re: Broom Brigade

Putting me off getting one now :)

Well my first two tasks are to swap my 17inch TSW across from my old bravo and also sort out this bloody debadging!

What do you think about getting a powerflow exhaust? Is there an increase in performance at all ? Is it worth it ?

Is there a sweet sound from one of these exhausts?

Re: Broom Brigade

I bought a K&N induction, but grew concerned about noise, so before attempting to fit, decided no noise and guaranteed performance for £200, was better than thunder and perhaps no gain for £80.

But you can get an enclosed BMC CDA from Nige now for £160, which is a crackin price.

I went for a custom build exhaust no one had tried before. The gains were hotly debated, but at the end of the day I wanted quiet, but it still delivered resonance, so my advice to brother when he got his HLX..jus get a supersprint (again form Nige@AngelTune cos he does such a good deal on em :) )

Re: Broom Brigade

I got this email back from MIJ Performance:

This is Nikki from MIJ Performance Walsall.

Thank you for your email.

The quotation that you asked for will cost £279. This is for a cat back system on your Fiat Bravo. This includes all current discounts.
All our quotation prices include fitting and vat.

Our systems come with a lifetime guarantee which gives you corrosion and rust free protection, and have been known to improve power outputs.

Are MIJ the only company that do Powerflow exhausts?

Or are there other companies?

Is this a reasonable price?

Cheers

Re: Broom Brigade

Ok, being a complete amateur when it comes to cars, apart from driving ... /me looks at advanced drivers licence :)

I want an exhaust which sounds powerful and looks good.

What sort of exhaust am I after? I dont understand a lot of the terminology such as CAT Back and so forth ...

Nico, you suggest I speak to Niga @ AngelTuning ... where is Angel Tuning based?

How much do you think it would cost for a system .. is it a full exhaust system or just part ?

Sorry for the 101 questions, just I am a little unsure in this area

:)

Re: Broom Brigade

Supersprint has the most recommends on here.

Exhaust in 3 bits. Cat-alytic converter, then two more 'boxes' between it and the tailpipe. 'Cat-back' - last two boxes only.

1.8 system For members from Nige 302 delivered. bout another £20 down your local to swop em.
