Ebay Mod Chips

We've all seen them, the "+20bhp for £2.99" or similar things on Ebay.

I have always dismissed them as being a complete waste of time. (I know that they are just a small resistor)

Whilst i'm not considering getting one, I was a bit confused when I looked at the feedback of an Ebay seller who sells them (and nothing else) and saw the feedback was very good. It was around 99% positive and as far as I could see the only people who had left negative feedback were people who didn't know how to fit them, or who were complaining that instructions weren't supplied.

If they are as much of a waste of time as I have always believed them to be then why are so many people saying they are happy with the results?

Is it just that for every 1 idiot who sells them there are 50 idiots who buy them and think that they work???

There must be a lot of naive ebayers who as soon as they recieve their product, they get so excited and leave feedback straight away, unknown what they have really bought for long term effects.

Yes, you can buy same from maplin for pence, and effect is the same ; may result in damage

same as the Mp3/4 mini media players, sometimes 8Gig size for a few quid, bargain, most say. same thing seller gets top feedback, but once done its done. Then buyer uses product, they find 1/2 memory and not really Mp4 but low grade amv. Forums are full of these types of complaint, and are funny to read too. Bargains, cheap mods well, sucker for buying really.

i did buy one few months back. it was sinspeed. costed £20. fitted it to my old bravo 1.8 and it worked but fuel economy.... i wouldnt recommend it

Yea, will do that. Basiclly tells the ecu its cold, and enriches the mixture and timing.

In old days you pulled out the choke (carburetor) to do this.
Fine but you dont wanna damage the cat nowadays.
