East Manchester garages - electric window problem

Hi there,

I'm after recommendations for a decent garage in East Manchester (Tameside area). The left front passenger window won't go up and is stuck in a completely down position on my Punto Grande (07 plate).

It's still within warranty, and of course I'm happy to get it sorted that way, but I'm just looking for options.

With a main dealer, there's usually a bit of a wait to get in. I can't afford a wait time - with the window being a security issue too, I need to get it sorted.

So, I'm looking for recommendations of a garage where I can get in and sorted quickly. Any help would be appreciated.

Obviously I'm no menchanic myself, so would it be a reasonable expectation for a garage to get access to the inner door (tools wise), or is it specialist tools required.

i would go to a dealer in the first instance
do it ASAP and they maybe able to fix it on that day or supply a courtesy car
a garage can open the door but if it is something like a dead motor then what?
you need to pay them and still take it to a dealer
have you checked the fuses and was the window playing up or just stop?
have you checked the window seal for something jamming the window?

Hi there, thanks for the supe quick reply.

Well, I can hear the motor 'clicking' when I try the window. It's not dead it seems.

I'm comparing it to the right hand side window. When the RHS window is s completely down, you can still see/feel about 3-4mm of the top edge of the window nearest to the handle.

Compared to the the non-working window. The left window is right down, "inside" of the door. It's a centimetre or two further down inside the door, and you can't see/feel the glass at all, unless you feel for it with a ruler or similar.

I'm guessing it's come off the mechanism that actually physically moves it, rather than an electrics problem. Not a mechanic as I say, but there's a visible difference between the left and right down positions.

I'm in East Manchester, so I'll look around for dealers. I had a bad experience at Hyde Stoneacre once, and it seems that's been the same for others around this forum. I might need to head Oldham way.
