Hey guys,

My old headunit for some reason did not have a seporate earth cable so i am a bit stuffed.

I just got a new Clarion unit and i put it in the other day not thinking about earthing it as my old 1 wasnt. And my battery is now drained.

Im just wandering where do people earth their headunits to?

Cheers

Dan

Earthing the HU and draining batteries are not related.

You have an electrical problem somewhere thats not related to how you earth your headunit.

Iv found that out now, had to tow the bloody thing home, it wont spark or bump start or jump start. grrr

I had the cambelt done thursday last week and im wandering if this could be related.

It turns over but wont fire, any ideas?

Cheers

Dan.

It turns over at normal speed but just plain blank refuses to fire.

LOL!

Its going into the garage on wednesday so il mention it to the mechanic then.

Cheers Tom

Dan.

dont mention it to the mechanic, unless he does that thing where they suck air through their teeth and say, "oooh, thats gonna cost yer"

The cam sensor obviously senses the cam, but what exactly is its purpose in the starting up process?

The cars getting looked at at my dads garage and i work in the workshop in summer so it aint gona cost me:D

Turns out my mate had kicked the fuel pump cutoff under the passenger seat. GRRR i got towed home by his dad too!

Anyways iv earthed the headunit now too to a metal bar which seems to hold the dash in place so its all good:D

LOL! Reminds me of an old rallying tale from many a year ago. Can't remember what the car was but the co-driver reported back on the radio that the camshaft had snapped. The pit crew couldn't believe what they were hearing, they'd never had a camshaft fail before. The co-driver replied with 'I know its snapped, half of it is sticking out of the tree we just hit!'
