I appear to be having engine problems with my Fiat Bravo 1.6 SX (1996). Every now and again when I try and start the engine it is completly dead, even if I have been driving it around for over an hour! A friend has suggested that I check the car's earth - but being a bird I would not have the faintest idea where this is! Can someone please help?

i'm guessing you have a poor connection to either the starter motor, solenoid or battery. check that the connections are clean and secure.

btw, before doing anything to the starter motors connections disconnect the batteries (-) negative connection.
make sure you have your radio code before you d/c the battery as you will have to put the code in afterwards.

Re: Untitled

heres a little picture to help you find it ;)

heres where your power cable connects, check they're tight and clean. there will another connection next to them which should be checked also.

i hope that helps, otherwise you'll probably end up needing a new or reconditioned starter motor :(

i wish this forum allowed us to edit our posts...

did you mean the engine will not fire or that the starter motor doesnt turn the engine over?

Re: Untitled

Could be a dead solonoid or starter. A dodgey earth would manifest itself in many other ways.
